Introduction to the Artist

I work on exercise sculptures. Mostly recycled or abandoned materials, new materials, or metal trees are selected as the main characters and I try to breathe life into him. The main character of my work is Object. Object is a small starting element in shape. Just like cells come together to form and preserve organisms, the small starting point of my work is material. I want to go further around that existence and breathe life into it.

The mentor of my work’s worldview is Theo-Janssen. When I first encountered his work, I felt the power of non-motorized power and science, and I fell in love with the world of his work that he loves. Therefore, I want to use the power of small power to let society know about issues and stories that are turning red in society through the power that I have gained in nature and through the power of the audience.

By incorporating conceptual art into analog works, we would like to present a powerful fusion of new concepts fused together to deliver a powerful message to the public.
Overall, I want to reject CPU or electronic equipment for work. I prefer complicated and demanding analog works that aren’t digitized. But it’s not easy to avoid. The driving force of my work comes from nature, and a lot of research and attempts are made to implement it.
I repeat this process to complete the work. It is also my homework and research project to be ideal in the process of encountering public sculptures and to receive public choice. I want to solve it through my portfolio and show that I am trying to do that.

작가 소개 (Introduction to the Artist)

저는 움직이는 조각(exercise sculptures) 작업을 합니다. 주로 재활용되거나 버려진 재료, 새로운 재료, 혹은 금속 나무를 주인공으로 선택하여 그들에게 생명을 불어넣으려 합니다. 제 작업의 주인공은 ‘오브제(Objae)’입니다. 오브제는 형태를 이루는 작은 시작 요소입니다. 세포들이 모여 생명체를 형성하고 보존하는 것처럼, 제 작업의 작은 시작점은 재료입니다. 저는 그 존재를 넘어 그곳에 생명을 불어넣고 싶습니다.

제 작업 세계관의 멘토는 테오 얀센(Theo-Janssen)입니다. 그의 작품을 처음 접했을 때, 저는 비동력 에너지와 과학의 힘을 느꼈고 그가 사랑하는 그의 작품 세계와 사랑에 빠졌습니다. 따라서 저는 자연에서 얻은 힘과 관객의 힘을 통해, 우리 사회에서 붉게 타오르고 있는(심각하게 대두되는) 문제와 이야기들을 사회에 알리고자 작은 힘의 에너지를 사용하고 싶습니다.

개념 미술을 아날로그 작업에 접목함으로써, 우리는 대중에게 강력한 메시지를 전달할 수 있도록 새로운 개념들이 융합된 강력한 융합을 선보이고자 합니다. 전반적으로 저는 작업에 CPU나 전자 장비를 사용하는 것을 거부합니다. 저는 디지털화되지 않은, 복잡하고 까다로운 아날로그 작업을 선호합니다. 하지만 그것을 피하기란 쉽지 않습니다. 제 작업의 원동력은 자연에서 나오며, 이를 구현하기 위해 많은 연구와 시도가 이루어집니다. 저는 이 과정을 반복하며 작업을 완성합니다. 공공 조각을 접하고 대중의 선택을 받는 과정에서 이상적인 모습을 갖추는 것은 저의 숙제이자 연구 과제이기도 합니다. 저는 제 포트폴리오를 통해 이를 해결하고, 제가 그 노력을 다하고 있음을 보여주고 싶습니다.
